My resolution to not "do resolutions" this year

Yeah. That was the plan. I never adhere to resolutions, and haven't made one in years. This year was no different. Yes, there are things I want to improve upon, but I've been working on them for months. This year was no different, until one of my goals from last year was met this year on January 2nd. I got hired at a new job as an Administrative and Event Assistant in the wine industry. I am so very excited and it checks all the boxes I was looking for in an admin job!

Part Time ✔
Preferred Wage ✔
Commute doesn't suck ✔
I can keep both my current jobs ✔

Bonus Perk: I still have two days off!
Bonus Bonus Perk: I get to do some event planning!!

I am very excited and after two weeks on the job, I can say that I can see myself being very happy in my current job situation for awhile!  Now, back to resolutions...maybe it isn't considered a resolution, but just a new goal that happens to fall right around the new year? Either way, we're back to Capsule Wardrobe, but this time- Office Edition!
The plan, the goal, the resolution, the mission, the aspiration is to curate a wardrobe made up of about 10-15 pieces that I can mix and match so that getting dressed before heading into my early morning job isn't a hassle. I've done a capsule wardrobe before. It's amazing and I loved it! The only thing difficult about it is that

1) I have a uniform for my serving job and prior to now it was 4 or more days a week, and I'd try to just incorporate my blacks into my daily wear prior to work.
2) I have a lot of color schemes I like and you really need to stick to one per season.
3) I really switched up my whole capsule season to season and it wasn't necessary. Better to just switch out key items to adjust for the temperatures and keep the basics the same. I found myself missing pieces from the prior capsule and then just ended up flopping altogether by the 3rd capsule.

Capsule Wardrobe: Office Edition will help solve some of these problems, giving me a new "uniform" for my new job and I can still wear my casual wear whenever- after work, days off, to the daycare, and before my serving shifts. Likely, I will end up creating a capsule for this aspect of my lifestyle in the future.

Office Edition is on hold until I get my first paycheck (next Friday!),  so I can get some shopping in for the pieces I want, but here are some basics and colors I will be incorporating:

  • Classic white long sleeve button down
  • Black slacks
  • Mustard sweater
  • Black pencil skirt
  • Striped button down
  • Baby blue sweater
  • Tan paper bag slacks
  • with some navy, maroon, and gray mixed in as well!
So, here's to resolutions that aren't really resolutions, but might be, we aren't really sure. 🍻

I think I might blog about it

I am feeling bloggy today! I'm about ready to fire up the instagram (and dare I say start up my tiktok?) again and in about a month I'll be making the switch to my fall/winter capsule wardrobe. But here's the thing...I'm having SO much fun in my current spring/summer one! I'm pretty sure I am going to combine them for a somewhat larger than average, but longer lasting, capsule. A lot of people switch theirs every season. I tend to switch it up every 6 months. Now it may be more of a "this is my wardrobe forever and everytime I buy something new I get rid of something with holes or stains" wardrobe.  Anyway- My incredibly loose formula for building a capsule is as follows:  Figure out my color scheme! I did a brown base for my last fall/winter and navy base for my spring/summer. I think that this time around I will do a navy base for my fall/winter, but keep in some of the brown as a secondary color. I also always have a cool off-white as my second base col...

Time for my yearly check-in!

Ok so- (have you ever seen that video about the end of the world from ebaum's world? well this was said like that guy....)  Alright the first thing is first - I have an 18 month old daughter and am hoping to get pregnant again in the (near?) future. This means that I am living in that postpartum mama bod world and am not mentally ready to try and get slimmer yet. Maybe I never will! I have a somewhat apple/rectangle shape and lots of belly!! I am also petite in height. This makes it SO hard to find clothes that fit AND look good on me! I have searched high and low for jeans that fit and also don't give me a muffin top or fall down my narrow hips. Anyway, I have made a few purchases for some clothes that will be more flattering for my figure- finger's crossed. This means peplum tops, slacks, high waisted leggings/skinny jeans when they fit. I also have NO MONEY! So, some of my purchases have had to be through amazon and old navy in order to be able to afford clothing for my...
