Postpartum Capsule Wardrobe

 Hi hi ihi hi

it's been about a year again so that means we blog.

My capsule wardrobe that I started last year in April went great! I loved the color scheme, and the fast and loose version where I kept all the clothes I really wanted as long as they fit me well and went with the color scheme. There was only one problem- I got pregnant!!!! So yeah, once August hit none of my bottoms fit me anymore and I had to go full maternity wear. For the 4ish months leading up to that, though, it went wonderfully. Oh, and I totally bought the heeled doc marten boots and I wore them for every fun outing! Love!

This time around I am starting to curate my wardrobe for the postpartum stay at home mom edition of my life. I am due in less than 3 weeks (eeek!) and I would like to put together a fairly small set of clothes that can

1. be comfy for daily wear

2. FIT ME

3. involve minimal to no new purchases

4. make me look put together even though I'll mentally be going insane

5. work for at home and once I start back to work at the daycare

and lastly

6. allow for breastfeeding

I've decided to go with just 25 items. This does not include workout wear or fancy going out clothes- although I will keep my workout wear in my wardrobe, I'll probably leave the fancy going out clothes in easy access storage. I will be using my loose fitting items that I know will feel more flattering on me for postpartum. While I would like to avoid making any purchases, I may go up a pant size in the beginning so I'll make a few poshmark jean purchases if needed- or continue wearing my maternity jeans if that works better for me. Ah, I'm actually going to really miss being pregnant and wearing maternity clothes. It's fun to show off a belly rather than hiding it.

What I hope to do is update this post with photos of the clothes I choose once I go through storage and get my backup closet ready to go. I'll have a transition period for sure of maternity to regular clothing during the first few weeks after giving birth. Then, I'll do my best to post my outfits each day on my instagram page! I loved doing that a few years ago, so I hope it will be a sort of self-care for myself once I become a mama so I can have something that's just for me.

Oh and don't you worry, I fully plan on doing matching outfits with my child, I'll have to make us a dual capsule once I actually need to purchase her clothes. At this point she will be happily clothed until she reaches 9m-12m size. So I hope from around 9m to 2 year we can be matchy...at least for some special occasions and maybe a day or two a week we can rock similar color schemes or full outfits. Who knows? I want to be obnoxious about it lol.

OMG and how could I forget to mention my SEASON!! I recently decided to look into what season I am. I did a seasonal color analysis and it turns out I am a Soft Summer. They base this off of your skin tone, eye color and hair color. You get recommendations on what colors best suit you, what color makeup you should wear, even the jewelry you wear! I absolutely love it and am using that as a way to pick my color scheme for my capsule wardrobe this time around.

Chronicling the following: Unicorn Space, 75 Holistic, and being a new mom to two

I feel like it's easy to create goals, but a lot harder to stick to them! You get caught up in the daily grind or something *happens* and you never get back into it (whatever IT may be).  I had a baby almost 3 months ago and I also have a 3 year old, so life is a little hectic and crazy. I also lost my dad about a year and a half ago and that was a huge mental load in many ways. Even though my baby is still young, I want to really start reaching the goals that I set for myself in order to 1. set a good example for my family, 2. be the best mama I can be (and I can only do that if I am participating in some self-care and making time for myself) and 3. well I mean who doesn't like accomplishing things? 4. be set up for success once life gets "easier"  To start, I am going to add journaling to my unicorn space goals. I want to do more than that, but I think it's a good way to get my creative juice flowing and I can figure out what I would like to do next. Ideas incl...

Britton Bigfoot Basecamp

FUN NEWS!  We bought a pop up camper!  And we named her the Britton Bigfoot Basecamp. Eliza is currently obsessed with Bigfoot so it felt right. We did ask ChatGPT for some name suggestions, but Alex and I came up with this on our own! I told ChatGPT that we are a family of 4 with two young girls looking for a name for our new pop up camper. We love music and the outdoors, and our 3 year old loves Bigfoot! Some of my fave Chat suggestions were Pop goes the Brittons, Popped and Rocked, In Tune and In Tents, Off Key and Off Road, but Alex wasn't thrilled with them. Luckily, some of the Chat's suggestions inspired us to where we ended up!  We are going to chronicle our renovation of the pop up, which is luckily in amazing condition. We also want to try not to spend an exorbitant amount of money, so I think I'll also share what we are spending along the way.  First up is cleaning! I have spent about $40 on a cleaner that gets rid of mildew, a mop for cleaning the c...

Deodorant Review!

For quite a few years actually I have been on the hunt for the perfect deodorant. I decided to go with a natural and cruelty-free deodorant instead of an antiperspirant around 4 or 5 years ago. Deodorant is used to reduce odor using antibacterial ingredients and antiperspirant reduces odor and sweat by closing sweat ducts. Aluminum is the ingredient found in antiperspirants to block underarm sweat, and 4 to 5 years ago I believed that it could cause breast cancer and Alzheimer's. I have since researched it on my own, and found that while there is no conclusive evidence that the toxins found in most antiperspirants and deodorants are harmful to our health, why risk it? At the end of the day, I want to use as many natural & cruelty-free products and consume as much unprocessed foods as I possibly can.  An easy way to do that is by switching out my beauty products for ones that have as few ingredients as possible and GOOD ingredients that are all natural.  All natural a...
