2 weeks notice

Alright I'm 2 weeks into my nursing mama capsule wardrobe and it's going great! If you are looking to create a capsule wardrobe yourself there are several great blog posts already out in the world that explain their methods. Classy yet Trendy, Vetta, and what I think is the original..Project 333 (33 items over 3 months) are the 3 that I referred to when creating my first one back in 2017. I've made a few since then but this one was definitely the easiest one since I've 1. Already made them and have my core items already set and 2. I pretty much started from scratch since all of my clothes were in storage due to pregnancy!!
All are going to tell you to start the same way- choose your base colors, neutrals, and accents.
Base colors can be black/white, navy/cream, dark brown/ivory etc.
Nuetrals are going to be blush, denim, tan, grey, etc
Accents can be colors, patterns, or textures! I've done leopard, florals, 2-3 colors that can go together, and lace before. Using a color wheel is a great way to choose a few colors that go together!
Next you want to think of your lifestyle, do you need biz casual clothes for work? Are you a stay at home mom? I also LOVE making a mood board on Canva and search outfits on Pinterest. I sometimes will have a piece i really want to incorporate, so I'll look at how people have styled it on Pinterest and get inspo for my colors and looks there!
Once you've completed all of that, empty your closet and shop the items you already own. Only use items that fit properly and are in good condition, then make a shopping list to fill out the wardrobe. You can stay within a certain number of items or you can be more flexible. A good starting point is 5 tops, 5 sweaters, 5 bottoms, 5 outerwear and 5 shoes!
I believe EVERY capsule needs the following:

1. Striped tee shirt
2. Chambray button up
3. A solid light colored tee (white or ivory)
4. Long cardigan
5. Blazer style jacket or sweater
6. Solid crew neck cashmere sweater for layering
7. A great pair of denim
8. Dark colored leggings (black, navy...)
9. A colored pant
10. White sneakers
11. Booties
12. A jean jacket
13. Graphic tee

Mine always contain these items year round and I add in an additional 20ish items depending on season, colors, and patterns I'm doing! This time around I have nursing specific clothing that I can wear around the house, to casual lunches, to work at the daycare, and coffee dates!
Here's my color scheme this time around. I'm trying to trade out my black for dark cocoa or charcoal, but it takes time and money which I don't really have so....

Chronicling the following: Unicorn Space, 75 Holistic, and being a new mom to two

I feel like it's easy to create goals, but a lot harder to stick to them! You get caught up in the daily grind or something *happens* and you never get back into it (whatever IT may be).  I had a baby almost 3 months ago and I also have a 3 year old, so life is a little hectic and crazy. I also lost my dad about a year and a half ago and that was a huge mental load in many ways. Even though my baby is still young, I want to really start reaching the goals that I set for myself in order to 1. set a good example for my family, 2. be the best mama I can be (and I can only do that if I am participating in some self-care and making time for myself) and 3. well I mean who doesn't like accomplishing things? 4. be set up for success once life gets "easier"  To start, I am going to add journaling to my unicorn space goals. I want to do more than that, but I think it's a good way to get my creative juice flowing and I can figure out what I would like to do next. Ideas incl...

Britton Bigfoot Basecamp

FUN NEWS!  We bought a pop up camper!  And we named her the Britton Bigfoot Basecamp. Eliza is currently obsessed with Bigfoot so it felt right. We did ask ChatGPT for some name suggestions, but Alex and I came up with this on our own! I told ChatGPT that we are a family of 4 with two young girls looking for a name for our new pop up camper. We love music and the outdoors, and our 3 year old loves Bigfoot! Some of my fave Chat suggestions were Pop goes the Brittons, Popped and Rocked, In Tune and In Tents, Off Key and Off Road, but Alex wasn't thrilled with them. Luckily, some of the Chat's suggestions inspired us to where we ended up!  We are going to chronicle our renovation of the pop up, which is luckily in amazing condition. We also want to try not to spend an exorbitant amount of money, so I think I'll also share what we are spending along the way.  First up is cleaning! I have spent about $40 on a cleaner that gets rid of mildew, a mop for cleaning the c...

Deodorant Review!

For quite a few years actually I have been on the hunt for the perfect deodorant. I decided to go with a natural and cruelty-free deodorant instead of an antiperspirant around 4 or 5 years ago. Deodorant is used to reduce odor using antibacterial ingredients and antiperspirant reduces odor and sweat by closing sweat ducts. Aluminum is the ingredient found in antiperspirants to block underarm sweat, and 4 to 5 years ago I believed that it could cause breast cancer and Alzheimer's. I have since researched it on my own, and found that while there is no conclusive evidence that the toxins found in most antiperspirants and deodorants are harmful to our health, why risk it? At the end of the day, I want to use as many natural & cruelty-free products and consume as much unprocessed foods as I possibly can.  An easy way to do that is by switching out my beauty products for ones that have as few ingredients as possible and GOOD ingredients that are all natural.  All natural a...
