hey there hi there ho there

Here we are. In the actual postpartum season of my life. It's so crazy reading my last blog and how different I am and my life is from then until now. It feels like I've always been a mom and I've always had this amazing baby girl, but it's only been 6 weeks. I am happy to say that I was able to get myself a capsule wardrobe together over the last 2ish weeks and have been doing it for a couple days now!!

In the beginning I was cycling through 3 pairs of maternity pajama pants and a romper. I went topless with a robe for a few days but then reality set in and I was leaking milk everywhere, so I ordered some nursing tanks to go along with the 2 nursing t shirts I had. Luckily I already had some nursing bras, all so so useful and necessary. As time continued and my body started to look "normal" again, I decided I needed to get out some actual clothes lol. I slowly took out my maternity clothes from my wardrobe while leaving some loose tops and clothes that could work for postpartum too.

Eventually, I came up with a plan to keep and add in button up tops, some loose flowy tops, and my nursing tops. I tried on all my old jeans (big mistake) and only one pair *almost* fit. I decided to buy a pair of jeans a few sizes up (may be my new size now! Feeling happy in the body I'm in right now). I kept some leggings and my romper and I have what looks like the beginnings of a capsule wardrobe- appropriate for a nursing mom who is starting to venture out into the world again.

I formulated a few micro capsules with a few tops, 1 bottom, and 2 jackets for my "going out" clothes. My other micro is a small 6 piece variety of options for working out in. These are clothes I'm not going to wear often or for a full day, but obviously I need! I start working out again on Thursday!!!! So excited. I also hope to start getting back into yoga and at some point train for 5ks again.

I'm still finalizing my main capsule wardrobe, but I definitely am straying from my last blog and not sticking to only 25 items. I need a few shirts a day due to milk leakage lol and I have tried a few things I pulled from storage and realized they didn't function the way I hoped. I should have the kinks worked out in the next few days! I'm also trying to make sure I'm sticking to my seasonal color palette as best as I can....which unfortunately was incorrect in my last blog! I've been redirected to the True Summer season. Luckily, they are super similar, this season just allows for more contrast. The colors in this season are muted and have gray undertones. Y
Here is a visual of some colors that are in the season and that you should be seeing on me! One main takeaway from it is my neutrals are navy, charcoal, cocoa and light creams rather than black and white!
Stay tuned for more on my season like makeup choices and hair color/styles and obviously my clothes! Excited to share how my capsule wardrobe works out for me in this season of life

Love ya

Chronicling the following: Unicorn Space, 75 Holistic, and being a new mom to two

I feel like it's easy to create goals, but a lot harder to stick to them! You get caught up in the daily grind or something *happens* and you never get back into it (whatever IT may be).  I had a baby almost 3 months ago and I also have a 3 year old, so life is a little hectic and crazy. I also lost my dad about a year and a half ago and that was a huge mental load in many ways. Even though my baby is still young, I want to really start reaching the goals that I set for myself in order to 1. set a good example for my family, 2. be the best mama I can be (and I can only do that if I am participating in some self-care and making time for myself) and 3. well I mean who doesn't like accomplishing things? 4. be set up for success once life gets "easier"  To start, I am going to add journaling to my unicorn space goals. I want to do more than that, but I think it's a good way to get my creative juice flowing and I can figure out what I would like to do next. Ideas incl...

Britton Bigfoot Basecamp

FUN NEWS!  We bought a pop up camper!  And we named her the Britton Bigfoot Basecamp. Eliza is currently obsessed with Bigfoot so it felt right. We did ask ChatGPT for some name suggestions, but Alex and I came up with this on our own! I told ChatGPT that we are a family of 4 with two young girls looking for a name for our new pop up camper. We love music and the outdoors, and our 3 year old loves Bigfoot! Some of my fave Chat suggestions were Pop goes the Brittons, Popped and Rocked, In Tune and In Tents, Off Key and Off Road, but Alex wasn't thrilled with them. Luckily, some of the Chat's suggestions inspired us to where we ended up!  We are going to chronicle our renovation of the pop up, which is luckily in amazing condition. We also want to try not to spend an exorbitant amount of money, so I think I'll also share what we are spending along the way.  First up is cleaning! I have spent about $40 on a cleaner that gets rid of mildew, a mop for cleaning the c...

Deodorant Review!

For quite a few years actually I have been on the hunt for the perfect deodorant. I decided to go with a natural and cruelty-free deodorant instead of an antiperspirant around 4 or 5 years ago. Deodorant is used to reduce odor using antibacterial ingredients and antiperspirant reduces odor and sweat by closing sweat ducts. Aluminum is the ingredient found in antiperspirants to block underarm sweat, and 4 to 5 years ago I believed that it could cause breast cancer and Alzheimer's. I have since researched it on my own, and found that while there is no conclusive evidence that the toxins found in most antiperspirants and deodorants are harmful to our health, why risk it? At the end of the day, I want to use as many natural & cruelty-free products and consume as much unprocessed foods as I possibly can.  An easy way to do that is by switching out my beauty products for ones that have as few ingredients as possible and GOOD ingredients that are all natural.  All natural a...
