Time for my yearly check-in!

Ok so- (have you ever seen that video about the end of the world from ebaum's world? well this was said like that guy....)

Alright the first thing is first - I have an 18 month old daughter and am hoping to get pregnant again in the (near?) future. This means that I am living in that postpartum mama bod world and am not mentally ready to try and get slimmer yet. Maybe I never will! I have a somewhat apple/rectangle shape and lots of belly!! I am also petite in height. This makes it SO hard to find clothes that fit AND look good on me! I have searched high and low for jeans that fit and also don't give me a muffin top or fall down my narrow hips. Anyway, I have made a few purchases for some clothes that will be more flattering for my figure- finger's crossed. This means peplum tops, slacks, high waisted leggings/skinny jeans when they fit. I also have NO MONEY! So, some of my purchases have had to be through amazon and old navy in order to be able to afford clothing for myself that fits. I would LOVE to be more sustainable and buy my clothes either second hand or from more reputably sustainable companies, but unfortunately that is not always in the budget/works for my body type. When I find clothes that I like, I will slowly work on finding a sustainable swap as money allows.

My more recent capsules were focused much more on mama life, nursing and feeling cute without trying too hard. Now, I am looking to elevate my style a bit without sacrificing too much comfort. I'm hoping that I am able to achieve this with these few clothing swaps I've recently made. I'm also considering swapping out my two seasonal capsules into one larger capsule wardrobe. I pulled out some of my fall/winter clothes for Alaska and was so excited to wear them! As the fall comes closer, I'll consider it.

So far my goals are: have a more sustainable and higher quality clothing capsule wardrobe and have items that are very stylish but NOT uncomfortable. I would also like that to include some accessories. I believe that I could add some flair with a new hat and switching up my jewelry more often. It just feels like a lot of work (the jewelry) so we shall see.

I also would like to talk about my UNICORN SPACE. Yeah WHAT. IS. THAT.?

Well, I recently read the book Fair Play by Eve Rodsky. It has been three entire days and my life has changed for the better. The process took too many hours, but I feel this HUGE weight lifted from me...something a lot of us call the mental load. Seriously, read the book - ignore the commentary (all the anecdotes kind of annoy me) but overall the method and the "game" seem like they will be life changing for my family. I personally have a new mindset on my responsibilities, and the ones I have been able to relinquish (this week at least) are SUCH a relief to not even have to think about. One aspect of the book is to make time for your unicorn space. Um, okay what is that? Well it ISN'T SELF CARE, it isn't just time for you...it's time for your 💥passion💥, and sharing it with the world. So, yeah, I never really felt all that passionate about anything. It's not like I've let anything go since I became a mama, or had anything I was super into as I grew up that I've lost along the way...I kinda just always hoped something would fall into my lap or becoming a mom would be my life's work. Now, I understand that is unfair to my daughter. All of that to say.....I think this capsule and sharing it with the world will be my unicorn- for now. I'll work on it for an hour on Wednesdays and an hour on Sundays. And that's it! I'm excited because I feel like I always half ass it, and blog about it once or twice a year. Let's hope with a little more focus I can be less insane with 40 paragraph blogs and more FUN with short blips of insight. Hopefully I'll also think of some fun stuff to share on instagram slash tiktok! STAY TUNEEDD

Chronicling the following: Unicorn Space, 75 Holistic, and being a new mom to two

I feel like it's easy to create goals, but a lot harder to stick to them! You get caught up in the daily grind or something *happens* and you never get back into it (whatever IT may be).  I had a baby almost 3 months ago and I also have a 3 year old, so life is a little hectic and crazy. I also lost my dad about a year and a half ago and that was a huge mental load in many ways. Even though my baby is still young, I want to really start reaching the goals that I set for myself in order to 1. set a good example for my family, 2. be the best mama I can be (and I can only do that if I am participating in some self-care and making time for myself) and 3. well I mean who doesn't like accomplishing things? 4. be set up for success once life gets "easier"  To start, I am going to add journaling to my unicorn space goals. I want to do more than that, but I think it's a good way to get my creative juice flowing and I can figure out what I would like to do next. Ideas incl...

Britton Bigfoot Basecamp

FUN NEWS!  We bought a pop up camper!  And we named her the Britton Bigfoot Basecamp. Eliza is currently obsessed with Bigfoot so it felt right. We did ask ChatGPT for some name suggestions, but Alex and I came up with this on our own! I told ChatGPT that we are a family of 4 with two young girls looking for a name for our new pop up camper. We love music and the outdoors, and our 3 year old loves Bigfoot! Some of my fave Chat suggestions were Pop goes the Brittons, Popped and Rocked, In Tune and In Tents, Off Key and Off Road, but Alex wasn't thrilled with them. Luckily, some of the Chat's suggestions inspired us to where we ended up!  We are going to chronicle our renovation of the pop up, which is luckily in amazing condition. We also want to try not to spend an exorbitant amount of money, so I think I'll also share what we are spending along the way.  First up is cleaning! I have spent about $40 on a cleaner that gets rid of mildew, a mop for cleaning the c...

Deodorant Review!

For quite a few years actually I have been on the hunt for the perfect deodorant. I decided to go with a natural and cruelty-free deodorant instead of an antiperspirant around 4 or 5 years ago. Deodorant is used to reduce odor using antibacterial ingredients and antiperspirant reduces odor and sweat by closing sweat ducts. Aluminum is the ingredient found in antiperspirants to block underarm sweat, and 4 to 5 years ago I believed that it could cause breast cancer and Alzheimer's. I have since researched it on my own, and found that while there is no conclusive evidence that the toxins found in most antiperspirants and deodorants are harmful to our health, why risk it? At the end of the day, I want to use as many natural & cruelty-free products and consume as much unprocessed foods as I possibly can.  An easy way to do that is by switching out my beauty products for ones that have as few ingredients as possible and GOOD ingredients that are all natural.  All natural a...
