Chronicling the following: Unicorn Space, 75 Holistic, and being a new mom to two

I feel like it's easy to create goals, but a lot harder to stick to them! You get caught up in the daily grind or something *happens* and you never get back into it (whatever IT may be).  I had a baby almost 3 months ago and I also have a 3 year old, so life is a little hectic and crazy. I also lost my dad about a year and a half ago and that was a huge mental load in many ways. Even though my baby is still young, I want to really start reaching the goals that I set for myself in order to 1. set a good example for my family, 2. be the best mama I can be (and I can only do that if I am participating in some self-care and making time for myself) and 3. well I mean who doesn't like accomplishing things? 4. be set up for success once life gets "easier"  To start, I am going to add journaling to my unicorn space goals. I want to do more than that, but I think it's a good way to get my creative juice flowing and I can figure out what I would like to do next. Ideas incl...

I think I might blog about it

I am feeling bloggy today! I'm about ready to fire up the instagram (and dare I say start up my tiktok?) again and in about a month I'll be making the switch to my fall/winter capsule wardrobe. But here's the thing...I'm having SO much fun in my current spring/summer one! I'm pretty sure I am going to combine them for a somewhat larger than average, but longer lasting, capsule. A lot of people switch theirs every season. I tend to switch it up every 6 months. Now it may be more of a "this is my wardrobe forever and everytime I buy something new I get rid of something with holes or stains" wardrobe.  Anyway- My incredibly loose formula for building a capsule is as follows:  Figure out my color scheme! I did a brown base for my last fall/winter and navy base for my spring/summer. I think that this time around I will do a navy base for my fall/winter, but keep in some of the brown as a secondary color. I also always have a cool off-white as my second base col...

Time for my yearly check-in!

Ok so- (have you ever seen that video about the end of the world from ebaum's world? well this was said like that guy....)  Alright the first thing is first - I have an 18 month old daughter and am hoping to get pregnant again in the (near?) future. This means that I am living in that postpartum mama bod world and am not mentally ready to try and get slimmer yet. Maybe I never will! I have a somewhat apple/rectangle shape and lots of belly!! I am also petite in height. This makes it SO hard to find clothes that fit AND look good on me! I have searched high and low for jeans that fit and also don't give me a muffin top or fall down my narrow hips. Anyway, I have made a few purchases for some clothes that will be more flattering for my figure- finger's crossed. This means peplum tops, slacks, high waisted leggings/skinny jeans when they fit. I also have NO MONEY! So, some of my purchases have had to be through amazon and old navy in order to be able to afford clothing for my...

Do you like visuals?

Yes I do. Yes I do! *sung in the tune of a children's song stuck in my head rn* Here we have some layouts of my tops, bottoms, shoes, and layers!  Now that I'm seeing it all out there, I'm worried I have too many tops. I didn't even picture a few graphic shirts I have (baby and mom matchy stuff), my gray v-neck, and I'm hoping to get an oatmeal/ivory plain tee and a navy tee! Umm....maybe this is just way too much?! OR Maybe this is perfect for a 6 month capsule. If it was only 3 months this could be overwhelming, but it does all fit comfortably in my closet and offers me a lot of variety with the variable weather over the next 6 months. I also feel like it has great casual yet elevated vibe. Okay, I'm cool with this. Let's just keep as is- and if I'm feeling like I haven't worn a top yet or that it isn't fitting in in the next month, bye bye!

It's all lined up

We got our line up for the season!  It took me about a month to get my colors together, shop my closet, and I'm still finalizing shopping my new items- I am on a budget! There are also some switches I plan on doing when new items come in, or am considering but just can't decide.  The asterisk means I need to still purchase or go over (pick one or the other/eliminate completely?)! I have blue shirt x2 because I already have a light blue crew neck tee shirt in the mix and I'd like to add a navy blue v-neck tee shirt. I also have a crewneck sweatshirt that only works for the Halloween/Fall season, so I'll be switching that out for a winter sweater once that season is over!  I also may or may not have signed up for a monthly mommy and me tee shirt subscription 😆 I COULDN'T HELP IT!!  My plan is to only accept it if the colors work for my capsule, and that I will get 2-3 and then cancel it until the next capsule.  Okay question- do I NEED a navy v neck if I al...

Seasonal Cereal

My husband and I joked that Seasonal Cereal (Serial?) would be a great name for a song! or was it a band? Either way, we haven't made much progress towards any song writing or anything yet. Or maybe I should rephrase that- we "write" new songs everyday - the songs we sing to little E about her toes, her eyes, what we're doing..etc. But, we have slacked on our Seasonal Cereal idea. It does remind me of that Milk and Cereal song; Milk and Cereal, Milk and Cereal, Milk and Cereal.....Cereal and Milk!  That being said, we are entering a new season in 2 days, and while I don't normally coordinate my seasonal wardrobes so well with the actual equinoxes/solstices...here we are on an almost perfectly matched transition!  And, boy do I need it?! I am feeling a bit lost/unfocused lately. Work isn't giving me that relief from parenthood that it did right when I went back, but I'm so tired from working 5-6 days/week, on top of momming full time that I don't have a...

2 weeks notice

Alright I'm 2 weeks into my nursing mama capsule wardrobe and it's going great! If you are looking to create a capsule wardrobe yourself there are several great blog posts already out in the world that explain their methods. Classy yet Trendy, Vetta, and what I think is the original..Project 333 (33 items over 3 months) are the 3 that I referred to when creating my first one back in 2017. I've made a few since then but this one was definitely the easiest one since I've 1. Already made them and have my core items already set and 2. I pretty much started from scratch since all of my clothes were in storage due to pregnancy!!  All are going to tell you to start the same way- choose your base colors, neutrals, and accents.  Base colors can be black/white, navy/cream, dark brown/ivory etc.  Nuetrals are going to be blush, denim, tan, grey, etc  Accents can be colors, patterns, or textures! I've done leopard, florals, 2-3 colors that can go together, and lace before. Usin...
